Satire Summary:
From the destructive and terrifying mind of Clive Childress comes a musical like no other.
Reefer Madness! A sensational epic; warning "of an evil menace destroying the youth of America in alarmingly increasing numbers: Marijuana"! What will happen to the Teenage and all-upstanding-American Jimmy Harper, and his Highschool sweetheart Mary Lane once the insidious reefer makes it's way into their patriotic White, Suburban, Americana home town.
The Real Summary:
The musical is a over-dramatic satire on the original propaganda film made in 1938 to fear monger and segregate communities around the country. Using the famous tag line of: "We're doing this to save the children of America" to spread their "patriotic" propaganda message, and it worked. The Musical Version takes their work to reveal the absurd lies they would detail in the original film to mock, entertain, and be hopeful for a better future in America.
