STEPS TO AUDITION:

1.     Introductions

You will be called into the audition room by the director or they're assistant. The atmosphere will be friendly, yet formal.

This is the time to introduce yourself, then provide photos or materials, if necessary, and ask any questions that you might have. Once introductions have been made and questions answered, the adjudicator will invite you to begin your monologues.

2.     Performance

You will be prompted to announce your pieces. Typically, the director will ask you to state the title of the play and the name of the character you will portray.

After you have finished your first piece, take a moment then announce your second piece in the same way. Directors may do things slightly differently, so be open and flexible and remember that this is an opportunity to do what you love.

The focus of your audition is, ultimately, your acting, so remain truthful to the spirit of your pieces. Perform at least one of your pieces standing so that the director may observe your movement, posture and the physicality your character.

b. songs for musical auditions

Prepare two musical selections that are 60 to 90 seconds each. Contrasting an up-tempo with a ballad is preferred but there is no genre requirement. Sing what you love and the music that speaks to you. For each piece, please introduce your name, the song title, and show in which it appears, and then begin your song performance. Persons who audition must sing to musical accompaniment, which could include pre-recorded accompaniment via your phone/Youtube. We prefer no “a cappella” singing (meaning singing without music).

c. Extras:

If you have any extra talents we would love to know them that we can try to incorporate them into the show if they work for said show. Ei: Gymnastics, Painting, Social Media, Weaving, etc.

NOTE: You may be asked to repeat a monologue or song and make slight adjustments to your performance to see how well you are able to take direction. Listen carefully and follow the directions to the best of your ability. If you have any questions or concerns that you think of later, feel free to contact the Admissions Office at any time. (972) 881 3228. If no one picks up we will call you back as soon as possible.

3.     Completion

Once you have presented your memorized monologues and/or songs, the audition process is complete. Now you'd need to fill out the Audition form. Its a standard form that includes, but not limited to the following: preferred first and last name, preferred pronouns, height, age, what parts do you sing, etc. We will also gather contact information for the production team in case in emergencies they need to contact you. We also do ask actors to be involved in a Show Facebook Group private to only the actors and production team to said show & related to only show discussions, that way communication is easy and transparent.

4.     Video Submission if necessary

Persons who audition are encouraged to use standard technology/recording devices that are available to them (i.e. smartphones, tablets, etc.).

Songs should be filmed in a ¾ shot which means the top of the head to the knees should be visible in the frame. Video submissions ends when the in person auditions end.

5.     Audition Results

Once you have finished with auditioning and it's form the directors will review it. At the latest, you should receive a response within four weeks. Please feel free to contact the Administrative Office with any questions or concerns that you have during the application and audition process. Our staff is always happy to assist you. Check out the Villains! Photos of Villains plotting and scheming. What are they scheming? Come to the show to find out?

Show Performance: January 26th - February 11th, 2024

Rated: PG

WARNING: We have learned SwampWater Sam's Twin is the dastardly villain in these pictures! Plot Of Show:

Freedom of the press is threatened when Sleazy Tab Lloyd gains control of “The Clarion” and stuffs each issue with utter nonsense:  ’Man-Eating Kangaroo Found in Tucson Hotel Lobby!’...  ’George Washington Is Alive!’ ...you get the picture (but hopefully not the paper!).  Everyone will groan and howl at the jokes.  Of course, all ends well when our villain is defeated in the hilarious finale, and Aspen and Jack head down the wedding aisle.
