IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All actors agreeing to perform in ACT productions must sign contracts (or have the contract signed by a legal representative such as a parent or agent) that detail all obligations. Participation will not be allowed without a contract.

Auditions are open to anyone interested. Please see the specific listing for requirements, and refer also to the "General Audition Guidelines" on the right side of this page. Rehearsal times are usually during weekday evenings; directors may, at their discretion, call for additional rehearsals as the show date nears.

ACT is a non-equity, community theatre. We can't do it without you! We rely on every individual involved with the show to participate fully in all aspects of a production. All performers are required to contract with ACT and agree to specific obligations, including: If the performer is a minor, their parent or guardian is responsible for paying tuition, agreeing to production requirements, and ensuring the performer fulfills the obligations.

Adult cast members may be obligated to sell performance tickets prior to opening, depending on the run and cast in the show.

Complete information on all production participation requirements will be presented during auditions or the first day of rehearsal/class.
Auditions
If you would like to stay informed of upcoming ACT auditions we encourage you to check this page often. We also have an exclusive e-mail subscription list that you may join via the form below; we will periodically put out our audition needs to this list. Your contact information will not be shared with or sold to third parties. You may also fill out the form below to subscribe to our "ACT Alerts" general information list, for information about upcoming shows, special events, and more.

NOTE - Audition dates can change! Please check back often!

On many shows we combine adults with teens or tweens, depending on the subject matter. Often, shows are double cast to allow for scheduling flexibility, and in some cases there will be separate kids and adult/teen casts of the same production. Please contact us if you've any questions about a specific show or audition requirements.

Many shows with adult casts will, depending on content, accept older teens. Anyone under the age of 18 are considered ACT students and subject to tuition charges. Please refer to the information found at the "Tuition" link above for rate information. As part of the tuition, students receive 10 tickets they may use for any matinee performances for the production. Failure to participate in set builds results in forfeiture of the 10 free student tickets.

Adults 18 and over do not pay tuition, but are required to sell 18 tickets to the production. This obligation may be covered by direct selling tickets to matinee productions, or, friends and family buying tickets online or at the door may specify the performer's name during the purchase for credit.

ACT Touring Shows Auditions

Teens and adults interested in making a little spending money may audition for ACT touring shows, which are offered throughout the year to interested groups, with performances at ACT or their location. If you're interested, CLICK HERE to read more about our touring shows and the requirements.

General Audition Guidelines

Auditions are open to the public, and held at the ACT Plano. Unless otherwise noted, no appointment is necessary; please come anytime during the posted dates and times (first come, first served).

If you have not already registered for the production online (use the "Registration" link above), then upon arrival please do so using our lobby computer. If you have a head shot and resume please bring it as well. Be ready to discuss any potential conflicts with rehearsal schedules, Tech Week, and show dates with the director.

Please bring a pre-prepared one minute monologue and a one minute song (if relevant). There will be no accompanist available--bring a CD, no iPods or sheet music. We usually will also have cold readings from the script. If you want to study the script in advance, the Web has numerous resources; use Bing or Google to find if public domain copies are available. Check your local library as well.

Once you've auditioned, you will be e-mailed as to whether or not you are cast. Casting decisions take approximately 2-3 weeks. Please do not call the theatre, we will e-mail you. Parts are cast based on availability, talent, and previous experience. After initial auditions, we will meet together to audition for specific parts at the first show meeting. The first meeting is usually call-backs unless otherwise indicated by the director.

If you need more information or are not able to make the times or dates listed please e-mail auditions@artcentretheatre.com.
